The outfit is an Axis chassis, based on an English grass track design and built by Paul Pinfold. It was the first outfit of is type fully built in Australia. The design, pioneered by Pinfold, revolutionised sidecar racing in Australia. Phil Page purchased the bike, less engine, from Paul for Phil to ride in the Australian Championships in 1982.

The engines in the championship winning bike were built by Massaki Imeda of Massaki Motorcycle Engineering in Sydney. Based on Kawasaki Z900 motors, they were originally 903cc (for Liverpool Raceway) but grew in capacity as speedway regulations changed. The current engine is 1043cc.
