Description:

This engine is a basic 125cc two stroke wtth a single speed belt drive designed by Joseph P. Treen and built by the Simplex Manufacturing Company in New Orleans between 1935 and 1960.

A large number of these machines were produced, and were used by the military as a runabout 'on camp'. They also became a great favourite with people delivering newspapers.

Some later models were fitted with a Clinton 4 stroke industrial engine of 198cc capacity.

This example has been beautifully restored and kindly loaned to the museum by Brian Cullens.
