The H1 was a three cylinder two-stroke with the alloy barrels in-line across the machine and fed by three carburettors mounted behind them = piston-controlled induction replaced the rotary disc valves of the twins.

The exhaust system was unique with one exiting on the left side and two on the right, in similar fashion to the Agusta Agostini race bikes of the same period, and it was this and the engine power which created considerable excitement in the motorcycle world of the day. The frame was tubular with telescopic front forks, rear suspension, and drum brakes front and rear. The front brake was less than adequate.
