Honda Police Jacket

Yesterday I donated a leather jacket and dust coat which I wore in 1968 as a motorcycle policeman attached to the Special Traffic Patrol Police North Sydney as it was known in those days. The location we worked from was next to Grenville Motors under the North side of the Bridge at North Sydney.

The motorcycles we rode were Triumph Trophy 650's TR6P and the Daytona SOOcc were used by Clearway cyclists attached to different local police stations to patrol Clearways along with Special Traffic Patrol Police.

Vespa motor scooters were used by the inner City motorcycle police to look after parking offence's and were known as the VIM patrol Only certified high speed Special Traffic Patrol Police were allowed to catch speeding motorists and you had to be certified for the type of vehicle.

As well as motorcycles at North Sydney it garaged high speed Mini Coopers and Rambler Rebel cars which were replaced by the 351 Ford GT and XU1 Holden.

Police also have used BMW and Honda motor cycles to the best of my knowledge.

Just a bit of information from days gone by.
