500cc side valve of 82mm bore x 94mm stroke and only moderate performance this machine was very much aimed at the sidecar person. This model introduced to the BSA range the features of dry sump lubrication, separate oil tank, enclosed valve gear and bolted up tubular frame. The model formed the backbone of the British Army's two-wheeled transport during the hostilities of 1939-1945.
